We are entering the RESTRICTED burning period, effective 1 April 2026 until 31 May 2026 (unless extended). This means:
One (1) pile of garden refuse, up to 1 square metre in size, may be burnt between 6 pm and 11 pm without a permit, but only if all of the following conditions are met:
Only one pile may be burnt at a time. The fire must be completely extinguished by midnight. This means no heat, smoke, steam, or white ash should remain. An adequate water supply must be available and capable of reaching the pile and beyond, in case the fire escapes. An able-bodied adult must be present at all times while the fire is burning.
Burning is not allowed if:
The Fire Danger Rating is High or above, or The wind speed exceeds 15 km/h.
Any burning outside of these conditions requires a Permit to Burn
